This is my second choice for grocery shopping behind Central Market in Mill Creek. Pros? Great sushi takeaway and tasty croissants! Improvements? The breakfast hot bar is pretty scant and flavorless. Maybe with the Amazon acquisition, the hot bar will get a revamp? I do like that there is a little eating space for customers that also features a small area for children to play. They also have little highchairs which make it convenient to bring little ones along for a meal.
This place is probably the worst quality to price ratio of any grocery store. They're expensive, and try to market themselves like an organic/ health food store, but honestly Fred Meyer has better produce and more organic options (for a lot cheaper!) The only reason I ever go here is because they're the closest place that has any humanely raised meat options. But don't be do fooled - most of their meat is actually no more ethical than the meat you'll find at any other grocery store. If you want to support truely local, sustainable, and humane choices, shop at PCC. They don't create a lot of hype about what they are, but definitely offer the best selection of local and organic products at the best prices you'll find for the quality.
Love the staff and very easy accessible from 196st. Good parking lot space which is free for customers. Good salad bar and other options for food.
I'll keep going back but I plan to let as many people know about it until they clean it properly and regularly like many other places do. The design of their shelves is poor and they shouldn't use baskets that are likely to harbor mold and bacteria.
A typical pleasant Whole Foods. Except I noticed that the underside of all of the produce shelves on the "wet rack" were covered in white mold. When I mentioned it to the person who was working in produce, he said "I know" with a casual smile. I repeated it because I kind of expected him to say something else and he just stared at me with a smirk...
It's just the simple things that separate an experience from pleasurable to one of indifference or even displeasure. In the middle of checking out, I noticed that I did not grab an item. I told the clerk that I tried looking for it, but could not find it and then eventually forgot to get it before checking out. She told me that she is not sure where to find the item and then turned to the clerk next to her who was not busy.(there was no one behind me in line , nor was there any line in the adjacent registers.) the second clerk went through several steps on how to find my item and then walked back to his empty register. I stated to the clerk that it would have been a kind gesture if either of them had assisted me. I walked away without getting the missing item and with a purchase that was unsatisfying. Will not be returning to Wholefoods, but will stick to my ole' favorite: Trader Joes.
